It's the time of the year again~ [no, not Christmas! hohoho] Ramadhan! Well...this is the second year Miss Farah Nazneen experience ramadhan without her family. Nothing, really. Ramadhan with your friends is almost the same as having your family around. Considering that by this time all of us have already adapted to living together so we have lots of fun together. From trying new recipes [after about 2 months away from the kitchen...] to watching movies; all of us have found a family within us that is as strong as the bonds we have back in Malaysia. Ganbatte ne!
The differences may arise when we talk about Egypt. Here in Egypt we do not have those meriah-meriah-lots of food Bazaar Ramadhan. Actually, I heard that at Cairo they have that sort of thing. But, here at Mansoura, we cannot seem to find anywhere with that atmosphere. Anyway, you can always know that Ramadhan is coming soon when you can hear Quran recital more often on the speakers and people are saying, "Kullu sannah wa antum tayyibin~" and you are supposed to say in return, "Anta tayyib/anti tayyibah" During Ramadhan also, our lectures are cut short to only 45 minutes per session~ hahaha...fun, really~ considering that our lab sessions have not started yet. So, most of the time we have only about 3-4 hours of lectures only...oh yeah!
Tarawih here is 8 rakaat. At some mosque they finish up 1 juzu' during the 8 rakaat. But at the mosque near to our house; for some reason they start with the 17th juzu' and the imam reads half a juzu' everytime. Going to tarawih is fun, really, because it gives us a chance to widen our social circle. Furthermore, you get to practice your Arabic with the 'makcik2 masjid'. After 4 rakaat the imam will give a short tazkirah. That will also help to understand spoken Arabic better because they usually use simple languges.
All in all~ Ramadhan here is fun in its own way...as Ramadhan is fun at Malaysia due to all the food that suddenly arise from nowhere. Plus, you get them only during Ramadhan [ayam percik, murtabak...etc] Get them while they are hot~ hehe...

Nice idea, good casting...but what they lack is how they present it somehow. Somehow, John Travolta is not cool enough [like DMX in Exit Wounds] Hugh Jackman does not shine like in X-Men and Halle Berry...is...well...*shrugs* The only thing that got me was the ending...haha. This story does not make sense...John Travolta does not make sense. I have to watch it again sometime later...*sigh*
